Iron Systems is devoted to enhancing system performance by fine-tuning the Linux and BSD operating system components for a given hardware configuration. In order to provide enhanced system performance and stability, we carefully audit the package selections and fine-tune the parameters of all applications and the system kernel.
While today's open source operating systems have evolved to solve many customer problems, sometimes customization of the operating system or bundled applications can reduce deployment time. The work may be as simple as customizing a disk partioning layout or more extensive, for example creating a new install image on CD that includes all required third party applications or drivers. Whatever the scope of your needs, our team will work with your requirements.
Iron Systems has a team of in-house engineers, plus strong relationships within the network of open-source community developers. Our team can deliver highly customized applications to run your advanced configuration upon request.
Iron Systems distributes FreeBSD-Flash, a FreeBSD distribution tuned for feature-rich solid state devices. This is a full FreeBSD 4.6 distribution that fits on a 128MB flash disk and will not wear out the media with excessive writes. Iron Systems distributes this customized version free of charge; customers can download a copy from our ftp site. (Check our site for the latest release available, based on development of the FreeBSD project).
FreeBSD-Advance is a project currently under development at Iron Systems. Once completed, it will provide a subscription-based commercial distribution of FreeBSD. Customers who currently have no viable alternative to maintaining their own networks will gain a reliable option for automatically receiving all advisories, patches, and updates along with commercial technical support.
